Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has held out a firm assurance to  parents that the academic year of their school going children will not be allowed to go waste.

“ We will make all efforts to ensure that academic year of students isn’t lost,”  she said while interacting with a deputation of girl students who wanted the early opening of schools  and  to save them from losing track of their studies.

Kashmir schools are shut for the past over 100 days  because  of the unrest  sponsored by Pakistan and executed by separatists and some of the mainstream parties.

Maintaining that a holistic view will be taken regarding the conduct of board examinations, Chief Minister, oday said the Government will have to ensure that the students don’t lose academic year.

“The Government will explore various options in consultation with the Education Department and the State Board of School Education (BOSE) to ensure that the students appearing in various Board examinations have more options and their academic year is not lost,” the Chief Minister said .

Urging the parents to help the government in normalizing the situation keeping in mind the future of their children, the Chief Minister said the Government will make arrangements for special tuitions for students in government schools wherever possible so that they can prepare for the examinations. “We will also consider reducing the syllabus,” she said and added that the students will have more options in terms of questions and answer, as they have not been able to complete the studies due to the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
