Al Badr chief Khawja Ganie – Face of Terror in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday achieved one of the biggest successes of this year when it eliminated Al-Badr commander-in-chief and one of the longest surviving terrorists in Kashmir in an encounter in Tujar , Sopore on Tuesday evening .
The terrorist Khawja Ganie had a long history of having committed a number of terror activities and figured in the list of most wanted because of his brutal acts of terror. He had become the face of terror activities in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370 and article 35 A in August 2019. He was instrumental in terrorizing the people under the jurisdiction of police district Handwara and adjoining areas to observe shutdowns .
“ This operation has added to the success stories of the police in its relentless drive against terrorism, and it should serve as a lesson to all other terrorists that they have an option to surrender,” said Director General of Police Dilbag Singh while complimenting the personnel involved in the anti-terrorism operation in Sopore.
The terrorist was a native of village Khwaja Mohalla Kralgund. He had ex-filtrated to POK in the year 2000 for subversive training and returned in 2002 and was active with Al Badr outfit in the jurisdiction of Police district of Handwara and adjoining areas unit 2007 . He was arrested by Baramullah police in 2007 and set free in 2008
On his release, his involvement was found in various lethal stone pelting incidents . He was again detained under Public safety Act ( PSA) in case FIR
No.03/2008 of P/S Kralgund .
In January 2018, Khawja recycled himself into militancy and joined Hizb-ul-Mujhadeen ( H M) terror group and he was presently operating in Qaziabad, Rafiabad and Sopore areas along with his associates. Being a local, he was well versed about the topography of the area and indoctrinated the youth toward radicalization .
He played a very active role in the terror activities as he set up a very strong over ground workers network in the area where he operated. That posed a serious threat to political workers , Panchs, Sarpanchs and peace loving people of this area.
Khawja Ganie along with his one associate (Furkan) of LeT out planted IED at Kralgund and also fired upon Army operational party at Kachloo Qaziabad in which one army personnel got martyred.
He was also motivating the local youth for throwing grenades for monetary benefits in the jurisdiction of Police District Handwara .
He has been taught the modern approaches of communication with other conduits of the outfit via Social Media Apps. He was also having expertise in handling of sophisticated weapons like AK series Rifle, pistol and hand grenades.
Especially after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A the said terrorist along with some other terrorist mentors of his from across the border had intensified his terror activities within the whole jurisdiction of Police
District Handwara for enforce the shutdown.He used to terrorise the people for carrying out various subversive activities aimed at ensuring complete shutdown in Police District Handwara.
