Various delegations of different Industrial Associations from Jammu region today called on Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce (I&C) Department, Ranjan Prakash Thakur at Udyog Bhawan here and apprised him about the issues being faced by them.


Vijay Aggarwal, President, Association of Industries-Samba raised the issue of infrastructural bottlenecks like availability of Water and Power within Industrial Estates that are driving down Industrial production. He also brought up current issues in mining and pollution clearances and raised the issue of non-applicability of GST Linked Incentive for existing units undertaking substantial expansion with the Principal Secretary and sought early redressal of the same.


They also sought intervention from Principal Secretary for expedition of construction of Gas pipeline project for ensuring uninterrupted supply of fuel to manufacturing units.


Jatinder Aul, President, Digiana Industrial Association sought free hold rights of leased land for local entrepreneurs and upgradation of existing Industrial Estates along modern lines.


Ajit Bawa, President, Kathua Industrial Association along with other representatives from the Association sought intervention from Government so that existing units are treated at par with new units and flagged issues related to getting clearances for Pollution and mining.


They demanded single window system clearances and sanctions for Ease of Doing Business in Jammu and Kashmir. They also sought that immediate steps be taken to promote ancillirization so that local units may also benefit by supplying them with components.


President, Hiranagar Industrial Association along with other representatives from the Association raised the issue of delayed payments for supplies made to Government Departments.He also requested that tendering for Government supplies may be made on the basis of Division instead of District.


Harvinder Singh, President, Association of Small & Tiny Industries, Jammu requested that Banks and Financial Institutions be encouraged and persuaded to adopt a cooperative attitude to sanction and disburse credit to Micro and Small Industries without any undue delay.


The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised by the delegations and assured that due care shall be taken during implementation of different policies here. He added that concrete steps will be taken so that not only existing units survive but also flourish and contribute to the economy of J&K.


RP Thakur acknowledged the issues being faced by Industries in J&K and assured them that they will be looked into meticulously for their early resolution.


Managing Director, J&K SIDCO Mohammad Harun ,Director Industries & Commerce Jammu, Anoo Malhotra,Joint Director Industries and Commerce Jammu (Dev) Ved Parkash along with other officers of the Department were also present during the interactions.
