Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed BJP’s victory in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council , Leh , as reflection of Ladakh’s unwavering trust in the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Amit Shah had played a singular role in making the parties in Ladakh in reversing their call to boycott the polls , today in a tweet said “ BJP’s landslide victory in Leh Autonomous Hill Development Council elections clearly reflects Ladakh’s unwavering trust in BJP and PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.”
He thanked the people of Ladakh for choosing development and prosperity . He also congratulated the party workers of BJP in Ladakh for such a stupendous victory.
BJP has won 15 out of 26 LAHDC seats it contested . It will form the executive council and run the affairs of the council for the second time running. It had won the last Council elections as well . The Council election process had started in 1995 as a consolation prize to its persistent demand for the union territory Status.
The Home Minister had announced UT status for Ladakh , much to the jubilation of the people of Leh , on August 5, 2019. The UT became functional from October 31st .
It was the first poll of the LAHDC since Ladakh became UT.
