Jammu, November 23 ( JKNT) Pof. Amitabh Mattoo, advisor to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has resigned from his posit in a sudden development indicating that all is not well in the political circles in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba Mufti had appointed Prof. Mattoo as an advisor in April this year soon after taking over as Chief Minister after more than three-months wait after the death of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed . Her father had also appointed Prof. Mattoo as advisor with cabinet rank.
Although no reason has been advanced by Mattoo for his resignation, yet it is understood that he was feeling uncomfortable , sources close to him said.
He was not available for his comments.
It is also not known whether his resignation has been accepted. There was no official confirmation of his resignation having been accepted by Chief Minister.
Mattoo, a prominent academician and sole Kashmiri Pandit face in the government , is likely to go back to academia .
But his resignation suggests that the things were not hunky dory in the political circles in Jammu and Kashmir.
