Srinagar, 21 Sep 2023.​ Indian Army’s Efforts to extend its outreach to remotely located ExSM of Tangdhar was witnessed today when The Army Commander, Northern Command interacted with the ExSM at Youth Centre Tangdhar.

The Event saw an active participation of 207 ExSM from the Region who were cheerful of the fruitful interaction. The event witnessed placement of various stalls which were established by Zilla Sainik Welfare Office, Kupwara, Office of the Records of The JakLi Regiment & The JakRif Regiment, a stall by ECHS Det ex Baramulla, State Bank of India and J & K Bank, Agriculture & Forest Department and the Civil Administration led by the SHO, Karnah. Besides the above stalls, a Medical Inspection Room and a Dental Checkup Room with Dental Chair was established by the Indian Army. The ExSM were extremely glad to resolve their grievances and redressals from the Records’ Stalls which was led by Colonel Veterans from Srinagar.

The Army Commander was welcomed on the podium by President, ExSM Karnah, Sub Qayoom (Retd). He delivered the inaugural address and also welcomed GOC Chinar Corps & Vajr Division, which was followed by the address by the Army Commander. The General Officer spoke at length on plethora of important issues to include SPARSH, OROP, Digital Life Certificate, felicitation of Veer Naris, Veerangna Portal and efforts of the DIAV Branch of the Indian Army and the establishment of an NCC Company at Tangdhar. He emphasised on Indian Army’s efforts to facilitate the ExSM through a number of initiatives being undertaken right from the apex level.

The Army Commander highlighted that the ExSM fraternity of Tangdhar is potent force and in the eventuality of testing times, he was certain that this force would positively contribute to nation building and maintenance of Internal Security situation in the region.

The Event was a perfect manifestation of how the Indian Army takes utmost care of its veterans and ExSM. The camaraderie of uniform was evidently witnessed when Retired Soldiers greeted the Army Commander as their own Commander. The event culminated with high slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai which followed interaction over tea. Tangdhar as a remote locality is growing and developing in many fields and the contribution of ExSM has been noteworthy.
