As a part of the nationwide ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ a Swachta Pakhwara was organised by Indian Army at Reasi, Talwara, Gulabgarh, Budhal, Dharmari, Makhidhar, Banna, Samote, Kandi, Hossote, Kalal, Kalakote and Lam of Reasi, Ramban and Rajouri Districts to motivate and develop a sense of hygiene and sanitation in the minds of the locals of these remote villages.

Large number of people of the area enthusiastically participated in the event and contributed to the cause. People were encouraged to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in their houses and surrounding areas. They were also educated about the benefits of cleanliness, prevention of communicable diseases and threats of diseases due to unhealthy and unhygienic practices through talks, skits and activities. The villagers also took a vow to throw all the garbages at the nominated place only and to keep their respective localities clean.

The drive saw an overwhelming response at all locations with a gathering of over 1000 locals enthusiastically participating in the Swachata drive. The Sarpanch and Village Elders expressed their gratitude towards the Army for undertaking this noble drive. They urged the locals to contribute towards the national mission of Swachh Bharat.
