Jammu, May 27: A Symposium was organized on “FEVER- A Multispecialty Approach” at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital under the aegis of PEDI-PHARMA which was jointly organized by Department of Paediatrics and Pharmacology. A detailed aspect of Fever was discussed by the Eminent Subject Expert with reference to their specialty. The Symposium was inaugurated by Dr. K.S. Mehta, Prof & HOD, Surgery and Dr. Rajesh K Gupta, Prof & HOD, Orthopaedics & MEU Coordinator presided over the Symposium. Dr. Geetika Gupta Prof & HOD, Physiology discussed the Physiological Factors involved in Fever and elaborated on the Applied Physiological aspect of Fever. Dr. Sushil Sharma, Assistant Professor, Paediatrics & Neonatologist gave an overview of Fever in children and discussed commonly encountered Problem about Fever in day to day life he also spoke on the Aetiopathogenesis of Fever. Dr. Sanjay Bhat, Professor of Medicine explained about the causes of Fever and also elaborated on their treatment modalities in adults.

Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal and Professor of Pharmacology spoke on the topic “Fever – Evil or Boon”. During the deliberations, he described various advantages of increased body temperature which generally restricts the growth of certain bacterias which are temperature sensitive. Describing the applied Pharmacology of medicines used in Fever, he explained about different Pharmacological affects in different anti-pyretic medicines. Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Professor & Head Department of Paediatrics and the Organizing Secretary of the Symposium explained to the UG & PG students about clinical approach to Fever in practical life. He also demonstrated about the non-pharmacological practices to be followed while managing a case of Fever. He demonstrated the scientifically approved method of sponging and other general measures for managing of fever, Dr. K.S.Mehta, while speaking on the occasion congratulated the organizers for conducting a Symposium on such an important and one of the commonest clinical manifestation of a disease. Dr. Rajesh Gupta in his address lauded the efforts of organizing team and the speakers. He also assured the gathering that such academic events will be regularly organized in future.
