New Delhi, March 28: At a time when almost all parties across the country are devoting prime times choosing befitting and winnable candidates of their own, the BJP has convened a crucial meeting at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday.

The Central Election Core Committee meeting has begun this evening to work out on the prospective candidates’ list for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Reliable sources said, today’s meeting is significant in view of the general election for Odisha, scheduled to begin from May 13, from the Koraput district. The BJP Core Committee might finalize party faces for the 147 assembly constituencies here.

According to political analysts, today’s meeting may also resolve the party candidates for the Cuttack and Phulbani Lok Sabha segments in Odisha. 

Among other top leadership, BJP  National President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogj Adityanath, BJP Odisha in-charge Vijay Pal  Singh Tomar and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan are analysing the political prospective of tentatively finalised candidates for Odisha, sources added.

The Core Committee likely to announce the finalists of BJP for some other states also, which are yet to get party nominees for the upcoming elections.
