Jammu, February 6: Jeet Lal Gupta, Chairman, State Commission for Backward Classes, accompanied by Ghulam Haider Badana, Member of the Commission, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Gupta briefed Governor about the functioning of the Commission and the various steps being taken to promote and protect social, educational, economic and cultural interests of the Backward classes in the State. He also apprised Governor about the various important matters concerning the Backward classes which are still pending decisions at various levels.
Observing that J&K was a multi-lingual and multi-cultural state, Governor stressed the high importance of all required measures being taken for the rapid development of the Backward classes.
