Jammu, May 19: China is all set to speed up Pakistan dam construction in view of the water security risks due to uncertainties hovering over Indus Waters Treaty .
India had held the Treaty in abeyance on April 23rd, a day after Pahalgam terror attack in which 26, mostly tourists, were shot dead by terrorists, India traced its linkage to Pakistan and announced suspension of the treaty till Pakistan stopped cross border terrorism.
China, a close friend of Pakistan has stated that it will speed up Pakistan dam construction after Indian threat to cut supplies
The Mohmand dam in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is designed to serve as a multi-purpose facility for power generation, flood control, irrigation and water supply.
It will generate an estimated 800MW of hydropower and supply 300 million gallons a day of drinking water to Peshawar, the capital and largest city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
