Jammu, September 04: Chinese president Xi Jinping to skip G20 summit in Delhi . Prime Minister Li Qiang will attend the summit

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced in Beijing on Monday . She said :” at the invitation of the government of the Republic of India, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang will attend the 18th G20 Summit to be held in New Delhi, India on September 9 and 10. “

That Xi Jinping will not be attending the Delhi summit of G 20 was being speculated for the past few weeks , especially after he met Prime Minister Modi on the side lines of BRICS summit in Johannesburg on August 23, in which the two leaders discussed the border situation . China-India military standoff is going on for the past over three years in eastern Ladakh. India wants an early resolution to the crisis , but China has not shown any inclination toward that.

China has further complicated the matter by releasing its “ standard map” in which it has shown Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh as its territory, which, in fact belong to India. Aksai Chin was lost to China in China-India war of 1962, while Arunachal Pradesh is part of India , and India is exercising complete control and sovereignty over the state in North-East.

China had boycotted G20 meet on Tourism in Srinagar, calling Jammu and Kashmir as a ‘ disputed territory.”
