The troops are carrying out extensive combing of area around 116 Field Regiment, where heavily armed terrorists mounted an attack killing 7 soldiers yesterday to search for more terrorists, if any, present in the area.
The place is about three kilometers upwards the headquarters of 16 Corps of Indian Army at Nagrota where terrorists armed with grenades, assault rifles and other live ammunition carried out fidayeen attack, lobbed grenades and opened heavy gun fire inflicting fatalities on the army side
The Army sources had told yesterday that there were four terrorists involved in the attack, but they have so far recovered only three bodies.
Alert has been sounded around especially at the world famous shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and its base camp Katra which is about thirty kilometers from the spot where attack happened yesterday.
The Nagrota army camp is spread over to miles in the hills and infested in jungles . Massive search operations have been launched.
This is the first major attack of the terrorists in Jammu region, while second in Jammu and Kashmir after September 18 Uri attack in which 19 soldiers lost their lives.
