Road Safety week to be observed from 9 to 15 Jan at Reasi

REASI, JANUARY 9: To begin with series of activities for celebrating the road safety week in the district, Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) today organised first camp in the premises of district complex Reasi.

District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar who was chief guest on the occasion, flagged off an awareness rally on “Road Safety” which was taken out from the main complex and passed through interior roads, Reasi market and finally culminated at the place of organization.

Many officers, teachers, students and locals took part in the rally with flags, banners, pamphlets and posters for disseminating information on road safety among commuters, drivers, conductors and other local people.

Meanwhile, a camp was also organised in which guest lectures were delivered by officers and officials of MVD to mark the beginning of Road safety Week which shall be observed from 9 to 15 January.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC advised the participants to avoid over speeding, racing, drunken driving, use of mobile while driving, wrong over taking and underage driving to stop loss of precious human lives and asked the participants to take all necessary measures for enjoying safe driving and healthy life.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer Reasi Diksha Bamba while interacting with the students and staff members said that major cause of the accidents is over speeding and underage driving. She alsostressed upon the youth to bear helmet and seat belt while driving two wheeler or four wheeler to avoid fatal injuries.
