An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police has tested positive for Covid-19. He was deployed as one of the Personal Security Officers (PSOs) to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati.

The ASI is admitted in Delhi’s LNJP Hospital since the past five days.

The ASI, who is from Delhi, had not met the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister since many days or any other security staff, an official said.

The Delhi Police ASI was on leave from April 23. When he returned to work, he was showing coronavirus symptoms. He was then tested for Covid-19 and his results turned out to be positive.

Meanwhile, an Additional Station House Officer (SHO) posted at Shalimar Bagh Police Station also tested positive.

Seven cops of Delhi Police were subsequently quarantined including the Additional SHO.

The infected officer’s family has also been quarantined.
