Doda, March 25: In its endeavour to make Doda drugs free and put the peddlers behind bars, Doda police has arrested a notorious drug peddler from Qazigund area of south Kashmir.
The drug peddler was evading arrest since 2018.
Giving details, Police said that one absconder Sartaj Ahmed Dar, Son of Nazir Ahmed Dar, a resident of Korigam area of Tehsil Qazigund, District Kulgam was involved in case FIR No. 159/2018 U/S 8/20/27-A/29 NDPS Act, registered against him at Police Station Doda and warrant under section 512 CrPC was issued against him from Additional Session Court Doda on December 3, 2018.
“Doda Police launched massive hunt and also cultivated sources for generating information about the movement and presence of said absconder and to track him. Ultimately, after receiving specific information about his presence, a Police team of PS Doda, arrested the absconder from Qazigund Kulgam and produced him before the Court in Doda,” said SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom.
Doda police and administration have been working hard to make the area free of drugs and bring back youth to the clutches of drug peddlers. Many cases have been registered against habitual offenders and few have been booked under public safety Act.
