SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 25

A delegation led by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister, met Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Putting forth their demands, the delegation urged the Governor to impress upon the State Government: to take stern action against those police and security forces personnel who are involved in indiscriminate arrests, nocturnal raids and ransacking of civilian houses in the Valley.

The delegation raised the issue to ensure that the rights of the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities are protected, their lives and properties safeguarded and they are treated as dignified citizens of the State. The Governor observed that the raised issues would be taken up with the Chief Minister.
