Jammu police today busted a drug racket and arrested six narcotic smugglers after recovering Heroin and Rs 3 lakh cash and two vehicles from their possession at heart of the city in Jewel Chowk area.
The accused have been identified as Farooq Ahmed Dar of Mendhar in Poonch, Mehmood Ahmd of Mendhar Poonch, Liaqat Ali of Balakote in Poonch, Mohd Shabbir of Lanjot Poonch, Akhlaq Khan of Manjakote Rajouri and Mumtaz Ahmed of Mendhar Poonch.
Police recovered cash amount of Rs 3 lakh and Heroin weighing 518 gram from their possession. As per reports, the catch was made based on the information that some narcotic smugglers were roaming in the Jewel Chowk area and accordingly a police party headed by SHO Raghubir Singh of police station Nowabad apprehended two vehicles one Tata Sumo bearing Registration no JK 22- 7655 and another Santro car JK 01Q- 3740.
