Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, today held a review meeting to assess the physical and financial status of works being executed for the establishment of Smart Classrooms in schools. The meeting was attended by Mamta Sharma, Deputy Director (Planning) DSEJ, Chief Education Officer Jammu Suraj Singh Rathore and Principals of Higher Secondary Schools of Jammu city along with the officials of PWD (R&B) department.


With more and more technology coming in use for teaching- learning process and the National Education Policy-2020 laying stress on use of dual mode of education which includes both, online as well as offline mode, establishment of smart classrooms in schools has gained paramount importance. To meet this requirement schools have to be provided with faster internet connections, the new LAN system, computer systems, desks and other equipment.


Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma asked the HOIs to remain in touch with the executing agencies so that the work is completed within the minimum stipulated time frame and there is no further academic loss of the students who have already suffered because of the COVID19 pandemic and the resulting closure of schools.


He further instructed the HOIs to workout ‘ ZERO WASTGE’ plans- in terms of money as well as time also.
Pertinently, the ‘Smart classroom ‘ initiative is being taken up by the Government under the ‘Smart City’ project.
