New Delhi, January 24:

The farmers protesting against the Centre’s farm laws have received the permission from the Delhi Police to hold their tractor rally on the Republic Day. The green signal from the police came after a two meetings. One of these was with the farmers who have promised a peaceful rally that will move along a road encircling the city and not overlap with the day’s traditional big parade on Rajpath that terminates at the iconic Red Fort.

The farmers will have to enter Delhi to access the Ring Road and permission for it was given this evening.

Indicating that stringent security wil be provided for thbe tractor rally, the Delhi Police said policemen who will be posted for Republic Day parade, will have to be ready for further deployment on short notice.

Due to the rally of farmers, they have to go to various spots after the Republic Day Parade, the police said.

Last evening, the farmers sought permission in writing and an in-principle approval was provided.
