Governor Satya Pal Malik has turned a corner for the lives of the people of the remote Ladakh region by fulfilling their long pending demand of empowering them administratively .
The grant of Divisional status to Ladakh was a gigantic step taken by the Governor’s adminstration. It was a step in right direction as the people of the region living in remote corners of the state bordering China, Pakistan occupied Kashmir and close to the base camp of Siachen glacier, highest battlefield in the world , had very limited access to the administration . They had to depend on small things on Srinagar where they had to go because of the location of Divisional administration being there .
Now that has changed. Governor Malik not only created a new division for Ladakh with headquarters rotating between Leh and Kargil but has also ordered creation of posts in every department . This will help make the new Division functional and vibrant besides making it meaningful for the people in real sense of the word.
