Srinagar, December 20

Former  MP and minister Tariq Hameed Karra on Tuesday  lambasted those  charging him with quitting  PDP  for he was not rehabilitated as minister and  declared that he was  thrice offered Chief Minister in the past two years, and he had rejected because his conscience and conviction did not allow him to make  any compromise with the “fascist forces.”

He was talking to media, first time after  many months when he resigned  to register his protest  against the civilian killings at the hands of the security forces during the unrest that followed the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen commander Burhan Wani in July this year.

Rubbishing the charges that he was after ministership in the coalition government and when he was denied the same, he quit , Karra asked , whether being Chief Minister is more important or a minister. “ I was offered tons of rupees by the BJP’s top brass to become the chief  minister”

“ Once it was during  Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s life time and  twice after his death in January this year. I  rejected the offer for  by conviction I am against the BJP and RSS,” Karra said .

About his future plans, Karra said , “ I am thinking of my options”. He could launch a new party or join congress, the speculations are going on  in this regard.

Today’s press conference was to convey  that Karra could  run the things on his own with his commitment to Kashmir  and people with the support of the masses who had sent him to the Parliament from Srinagar constituency . He had defeated National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in May 2014 parliamentary elections.
