Jammu and Kashmir Government will bring a new law that will make the death penalty mandatory for those who rape minors.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti made this announcement through a tweet late this evening in which she said : “ We will bring a new law that will make the death penalty mandatory for those who rape minors , so that little Ashifa’s case becomes the last.”
Her tweet came against the back drop of rape and murder of a minor girl Ashifa in Kathua village about two months ago. Seven persons including policemen in the rape and murder of the minor girl
She added : “ We will never ever let another child suffer in this way .”
She sarted her tweets saying : I want to assure the entire nation that I stand committed not just to ensure justice to Ashifa but also seek exemplary punishment for those responsible for a crime whose brutal savagery has shamed humanity.”
