Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared in Lok Sabha on Saturday that Jammu and Kashmir will be given statehood at an appropriate time .
Amit Shah told the House that “ Jammu and Kashmir will definitely get back the statehood, but at an appropriate time,.
Shah was responding to apprehensions voiced by some of the members that J&K would not get the statehood.
On August 5, 2019, when Article 370 and Article 35 A of the Indian constitution were scrapped , the statehood of J&K was dismantled. Instead two union territories were carved out of the state – Ladakh and J&K.
