JAMMU, JUNE 12:

An enforcement team of Jammu Municipal Corporation Friday removed illegal hoardings & banners from various main roads and from the rooftop of various buildings in various parts of the city.
The team cleared 9 huge hoarding structures mounted on the roof as well as ground within the premises of Press Club Jammu. During the drive, JMC removed all the illegal hoardings which had been in place since years. The team removed 9 hoardings of size 30 x 15 & 20 x 10. All these hoardings were installed without the permission of JMC.
The team was headed by Secretary JMC, Tinna Mahajan, while the drive was carried out under the overall supervision of Commissioner, JMC, Avany Lavasa.
Meanwhile, the Jammu Municipal Corporation has appealed to the general public to remove all such hoardings, signboards, posters, banners, billboards & pole kiosks installed in contravention of section 116 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000, failing which action will be initiated against the offenders.
As per JMC authorities, contravention of section 116 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000, is actionable as per provisions of section 119 and 384 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000 with fine which may extent to Rs. 5000/- and with a further fine which may extend to Rs. 1000/- for every day during which the offence continues
