Jammu University Vice Chancellor R D Sharma Wednesday said that “ it would have been better had Hizb –ul-Mujadeen commander Burhan Wani been captured alive and arrested instead of being killed in an encounter.”
Talking to media persons here this afternoon, the Vice Chancellor argued that Burhan Wani should not have been killed. “ He should have been arrested and even put behind bar for life , Kashmir could have been spared of all the death and destruction that it suffered in the past four months.”
The vice chancellor ‘s observations were an echo of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who had said that had” it been known that Burhan was in the hideout , he could have been given a chance ( to escape)”
Sharma who is trying to be on the right side of Mehbooba Mufti, who also is the pro-chancellor of the university . He is looking for an extension for himself.
The Vice Chancellor had convened the press conference to celebrate the A plus grade conferred by the NAAC after inspecting the university in the last week of September.
