V-C chairs meeting with College Principals

Kashmir University Vice-Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi on Saturday chaired a meeting of principals of Kashmir colleges to discuss the academic scenario in the backdrop of recent circumstances in the Valley.
After threadbare discussion on several issues including status of completion of syllabus for various undergraduate courses, the members unanimously resolved that due care shall be taken of the genuine concerns/interests of the students while conducting the examinations.
In the larger interest of the students and in order to compensate academic losses suffered by them, the following decisions vis-a-vis holding of UG examinations were taken.
- The UG examinations in Cold Zone Colleges of Kashmir (Ladakh/Kargil/Tanghdar/Gurez) shall commence by end of this month (November-2016).
- The Bi-AnnualExaminations of 1st Year/2nd Year in Kashmir Valley shall commence from 2nd week of December 2016.
- With regard to 3rd Year Annual Examination (of both Regular/Backlog Candidates) in Kashmir Valley, it was decided to allow the students to avail the time till December-end for preparation and using e-content already uploaded on the University website (in UG E-Tutorial section/on some city college web portals). This examination would consequently start in the last week of December-2016. However, it was resolved that the practical examination in Lab-Oriented subjects shall be held after the conclusion of Theory Examination.
- The Examination of 2ndSemester (Batch-2015) shall be held on priority, preferably from mid-December-2016 as the syllabus of courses has already been completed. Consequently, the third semester examination of this batch shall be held in early March 2017 for smooth start of next academic session.
- The examination of 1stsemester (2016) shall commence from mid-January 2017 while 2nd semester examination of this batch shall be held from mid-March in view of already-uploaded e-content material.
It was impressed upon the college Principals to once again communicate the availability of already-uploaded online course content to the students so that they make use of it. The students were also advised to visit their institutions regularly to seek redressal of their academic grievances/clarifications/concerns.
The Vice-Chancellor also urged heads of colleges and teachers to put in extra efforts to ensure that all examinations are held smoothly in the larger interest of the student community.
