Srinagar, Dec 24

The University of Kashmir has decided to do away with winter vacation during this academic session to compensate the loss suffered by students in view of the recent circumstances in Kashmir.

A decision to this effect was taken at a high-powered meeting of the Committee of Deans held under the chairmanship of Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Mohammad Ashraf Wani.

The members unanimously resolved that in order to compensate the academic losses suffered by the students and bring the academic calendar back on track, the class-work at Kashmir University and its satellite campuses in the Valley shall continue during the winter months.

“This move, taken in the larger interest of the student community, shall also help start the next academic session in time,” a press release said.
