Following a meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi yesterday Ladakh People’s Movement has taken back the poll boycott call. They had decided to stay away from the recently announced Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) polls over demand for Sixth Schedule

Home Minister has agreed to look into the demand of Ladakhis for constitutional safeguards on land, language, jobs and other things under Sixth Schedule- Tweeted Kiren Riiju, minister for sports and youth affairs.

The three-member delegation – comprising Chewang, former J&K minister Chering Dorjay Dorjay, and Thiksay monastery head Rinpoche Nawang Chmaba Stanzin – met with Shah, and Ministers of State G Kishen Reddy and Kiren Rijiju on Saturday in New Delhi.

“We had a very good meeting with the Home Minister. He gave us a lot of time, and reassured us that he will give us much more than Sixth Schedule,” Dorjay had said after meeting with Amit Shah
