A delegation led by Ghulam Hussaini from Turtuk block, Nubra called on LG R.K.Mathur today at Raj Niwas.

Hussain appealed to the LG for the creation of border cluster villages – Tyakshi Groung, Pachathang, and Thang – as a model village under Border Area Development Programme (BADP). LG Mathur was appraised that a detailed project was submitted to the erstwhile Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir through the Department of Rural Affairs under BADP funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI.   

Hussain also requested the Hon’ble LG to open Thang village for tourists so as to generate income for the locals and said that the village has many tourist attractions including its flora and fauna.

 President, Society for Knowledge and Responsibilities of Culture, Health, Education and Nature (SKARCHEN), brought to LG Mathur’s notice the contributions made by Ustad Abdul Hamid Khali of Turtuk village in preserving Balti folk music which is worthy of appreciation in the form of an award.

LG Mathur assured them their requests will be looked into.
