Project will undertake preservation and promotion of Jain Heritage, fostering interdisciplinary research in same

New Delhi, March 14: In the spirit of ‘Virasat Se Vikas’ and ‘Virasat Se Samvardhan’, The Ministry of Minority Affairs inspired by ‘Panch Pran’ of Honourable Prime Minister has approved projects under PMJVK Scheme for ‘Establishment of Centre for Jain Studies in Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore Campus with the total estimated cost of Rs. 25.Cr.
Ministry of Minority Affairs has approved these projects for an assured financial assistance of Rs. 25 Crores for strengthening infrastructural development pertaining to development of Jain philosophy, fostering academic collaboration, promoting interdisciplinary research, preservation of language via digitization of manuscripts, community outreach via hubs establishment.
The project by the university will be undertaken for preservation and promotion of Jain Heritage, fostering interdisciplinary research in same, enhancing global understanding of Jainism and its principles and practices and developing a support for community engagement.
Taking another step ahead towards Government of India’s commitment for development of minorities with the “Whole of Government” approach with specific focus on the Jain Communities, MoMA has approved this project as it strives primarily for preservation and conservation of Jain Culture in the form of digitization of Jain Manuscripts, widespread knowledge sharing of Jain traditions, customs and promoting inter-disciplinary research on Jain literature.
Aligned with the purpose of ‘Viksit Bharat’ ,Ministry of Minority Affairs desires that Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore should collaborate for integrated development of Jain Communities for conservation of the Jain cultural heritage and knowledge along with research and development of Jain literature.
