Jammu, November 29 ( JKNT) Four terrorists were eliminated by the army in Nagrota after more than eight-hour encounter following a fidayeen attack on the army campon Tuesday morning .
One Major and two soldiers have also been killed in the gun fight that started around 5.30 a.m. when a group of unspecified number of terrorists stormed the army camp near 16 Corps headquarter of the Indian army.
The terrorists armed with grenades, assault rifles and other live ammunition followed a typical pattern of the fidayeen attack, lobbed grenades and opened heavy gun fire in which they way laid Major Kunal and two soldiers.
As the terrorists entered the camp surrounded by jungles, the retaliation started.
Till 2 p.m. the army had recovered bodies of four terrorists. Army played cool in dealing with tricky situation by targeting the terrorists in a strategic fashion instead of rushing into their trap in which maximum casualties were planned.
This encounter ended an hour after the Border Security Force neutralized three infiltrators who had fired at a BSF patrol and injured one trooper Sham Lal Aggarwal, but three others, including a DIG rank officer were injured when they approached bodies . One of the terrorists’ body explofed with grenades tied to his body.
At both the places , the search operations were on. They were looking for more terrorists, if any.
