Srinagar, March 16: A non-local beggar woman from Rajasthan allegedly kidnapped a four-year-old in Budgam district of central Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir police has arrested the woman after a missing report was filed in police station Khag.

In a statement, police said that after receiving the information that a child has been kidnapped by a woman by a beggar after which a mamhunt was launched.

The lady, the statement reads, concealed the child under her scarf and some local women upon developing suspicion, informed police Station Khag.

“A police party of police station Khag rushed to the spot alongwith lady police personnel and recovered the kidnapped boy from the possession of non-local lady and arrested her on spot”, reads the statement.

“The accused lady has been subsequently identified as Chidi Devi wife of Khana Ram resident of Dhannasar, Hanumangarh Rajasthan.”

“A case FIR number 17/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khag and investigation taken up”, reads the statement.

“The boy has been handed over to his parents after medico legal formalities”, reads the statement further.
