Srinagar, February 6 : National Conference vice president and former chief minister Omar Abdullah has questioned the J&K government as to which procedure it was following in bulldozing houses of the people across the Union Territory , and cautioned the government of consequences that such lack of respect to the law of the land could entail.
Omar, while addressing a press conference in Srinagar on Monday afternoon , referred to the most burning issue in Jammu and Kashmir , the anti-encroachment drive being carried out with the destructive power of bulldozers , which, he claimed has hit many .
“ No notices were served to the residents but the bulldozers razed the structures without following even basic requirements of law . The bulldozer comes only after the basic norms of issuing notices, verification of claims is done.”
“ We want to know whether there is any rule of law or this anti-encroachment is being carried out at the whims and fancies of some officials,” he asked . He also said that there is an imbalance in the demolition drive .
