In yet another decisive step against terrorism and its spread in the sensitive Indian states and UTs , the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday designated Shahbaz Bhatti Network ( SBN) as a terrorist organization under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ( UAPA), to stem the rot that the network had sought to cause in the country through its terror-oriented activities.
Home Minister Amit Shah declared that this step runs in accordance with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “ zero tolerance against terror policy” and he went on to declare Shahzad Bhatti Network as a terrorist organization under the UAPA. The group is involved in smuggling of arms, explosives and narcotics across borders, part from inciting youths and petty criminals into terrorism . Targeting India’s democratic structure and the fabric of communal harmony , the syndicate also published hateful digital content .
This is where India has proved that Operation Sindoor that it had launched in the wake of the diabolical Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025 , is continuing . In May 2025 it was direct military action against terrorists and their state-sponsored infrastructure , including shelters and training centers in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir ( PoK). That had inflicted psychological wounds on all the terror networks across the border.
The May 10, 2025, was not a ceasefire but a temporary pause as Pakistan was warned that the action would be taken again if it attempted to go in for misadventure again . India had made it clear that the country will not wait for a ruthless terror act like Pahalgam to react, it could be any act or thought of cross-border terrorism that would invite the similar or may be more lethal reaction .
Pakistan thought that it could escape consequences of it resorted to other means of exporting terrorism,- online radicalization of youth , engaging them in mounting surveillance of the critical installations and coordinating high-scale attacks . It was wrong. India detected all its plans before they could be executed.
In view of the Shahzad Bhatti Network ( SBN) is an organization whose objective is to involve gullible youth and local criminals to smuggle arms, explosives, and narcotics from across the border, and through terrorist activities, pose a serious threat to the democratic system, communal harmony, and internal security of the country; And whereas, several criminal cases have been duly registered against the cadres of Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN) across multiple jurisdictions for their involvement in unlawful and terrorist activities, invoking the following sections of various Act,” the MHA declared it as terrorist organization under UAPA.
There is something larger that is being sought to be achieved and conveyed . It is a direct message to Pakistan that its anti-India activities are not only under watch , astern action can be taken to nip the evil in bud. It is also a clear warning to all those within he country willing to fall into ISI-backed groups’ trap that there were serious consequences for them .
India had first detected and destroyed SBN network when the security agencies carried a major multi-state crackdown against the ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti Network (SBN) ahead of Independence Day and busted its terror syndicate. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, 253 people were detained across 14 states, over 80 FIRs and 200+ arrests recorded against SBN as part of the ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards cross-border terrorism.
Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah had said “Modi govt destroyed the ISI-backed terror group Shahzad Bhatti Network ahead of Independence Day and thwarted its plans for subversive attacks by arresting more than 200 operatives. Indian security forces ripped apart the network by launching coordinated operations across different locations in 14 states upholding a brilliant example of India’s zero-tolerance towards terrorism. Substantial recoveries, including IEDs, grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, live cartridges, and CCTV cameras used for espionage, were made from the ISI-funded group. The network was involved in several terrorist activities.”
That was the beginning of the end of this terror network, and today that task has been further accomplished with the declaration of SBN as terrorist organization under UAPA.
