Jammu, August 15: IIMC Jammu on Thursday celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day with a new batch of students. Amid vibrant patriotic fervour, the celebrations began with Dr. Dilip Kumar, Regional Director of IIMC Jammu, hoisting the national flag.

The event, held at the IIMC campus, was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Vivek Pathak (IIS), OSD (Admin) and Integrated Financial Advisor, IIMC Jammu, Dr. Vinit Utpal, Assistant Professor (Digital Media), Dr. Ravia Gupta, Assistant Professor (English Journalism), Mr. Vishv, Assistant Professor (Digital Media), and Mr. Rajiv Kumar and Mr. Gulshan Kumar, academic associates.

After hoisting the flag, Dr. Dilip Kumar gave a motivational speech on the idea of “Swatantra”. He encouraged students to be proud of being Indians and underlined India’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) that thinks about the welfare of the entire world.

Mr. Vivek Pathak emphasized that this day belongs to all 140 crore Indians — to celebrate our struggles, achievements, and dreams for a new India. He also emphasized the importance of feeling pride in the Indian culture and heritage. He added that language is only a medium of communication and encouraged students to speak up for what is right in whichever language they are fluent in. Dr. Vinit Utpal shared his views on Independence Day with the students and shared some insights about unsung heroes of the nation.

The event was followed by a cultural program moderated by students, Stuti and Haider, wherein students showcased their talent with various performances and activities, fostering a deep connection with the nation’s rich heritage. The faculty organized a quiz to enhance students’ knowledge of Indian history. The winners of the quiz were Laurel Bhatt from Digital Media course, and Anjali Tyagi and Pawan Yadav from English Journalism course. Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Academic Associate, urged the youth to reflect on their contributions towards the nation. Mr. Anoop Kumar Wattal, Senior Office Assistant and Gulshan Kumar, Academic Associate, presented a vote of thanks.
