Jammu, June 24:

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor  Manoj Sinha briefed Prime Minister Narendra  Modi  about the current situation in the Union Territory and also gave his political inputs ahead of   all-party meet  on  Kashmir where  the focus would be on holding the Assembly elections .

LG Sinha, a veteran politician and who has studied all aspects of J&K situation by interacting with the masses at the Panchayat level  to the highest level  shared his assessment with the Prime Minister who has taken an extremely bold step of inviting the leaders of Kashmir , some of whom prefer to call themselves as part of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, who  seek restoration of   Article 370 to Jammu and Kashmir, something that the Centre  is opposed to on  multiple grounds.

Sinha, the sources said , has pointed out that Kashmir situation has changed . The people want development and unhindered access to the basic facilities, and they  are opposed to the violence of all kinds .

Meanwhile , BJP, Congress  are devising their respective strategies to be adopted at the meeting. BJP would be opposing all the arguments for the restoration of Article 370 , while Congress will pursue a middle-path of seeking statehood with or without special status .
