NC committed to steer J&K to a new era of peace and development: Sajjad Shaheen

Banihal ; 23 March : About two Dozen political activists including a prominent academician and Socio-Religious activist Advocate Tariq Ibrahim Sohil besides two retired police officers from Neel joined the National Conference in presence of party leader and District President, Ramban Mr Sajjad Shaheen and other senior party functionaries at Neel today.
Welcoming the new entrants into the party fold, in a hurriedly organised joining function held at Bus stand Neel Top, Sajjad Shaheen said that National Conference is natural destination for all those public spirited political activists, who want to work for political stability and unity between various religions and regions, peace and progress of all the three regions of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said joining of prominent figures like Adv.Tariq Ibrahim Sohil, Raja Fazal Haq Sohil retd (SI), Mohd Rafique Sohil retd (SI), Abdul Latif Sohil and others reflects the growing realization among the people that the National Conference is the only party that can uphold their dignity and steer the erstwhile state out of the present morace and lead it to a new era of peace, progress and development. Adding that Tariq Sahab’s work as an academician and social activist is exemplary and his service to the people speaks louder than words. He added that, I am sure his joining will help in furtherance of the party not only in Neel but the entire district Ramban.

He said that workers of NC are the epitome of sacrifice and selfless service who have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards people, party and its leadership.

“Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah transferred a peoples movement to us in the shape of NC and we have to nurture it in the same form,” he added.

The party’s objective has never been power but dignity and development of the erstwhile state and its people, he said. “We do not deceive people by emotional blackmailing, slogans, falsehood, bias and creating hatred between various regions and sections of the society for votes,” Shaheen said.

He alleged that there have been conspiracies against NC in the past and it still is continuing as political parties are being created in every nook and corner of the “erstwhile State to divide us.”

Shaheen said with the joining of political activists into the party, the National Conference will be further strengthened at the grass roots level and play its designated role towards the wellbeing of the people and heralding a new era of hope.

Speaking on the Occasion, Adv Tariq Ibrahim said he had felt that it was important to join NC “at this juncture for the protection of democratic values and rights of the people.
He thanked the Party district president and other party functionaries for welcoming him along with other incumbents into the party and said he would leave no stone unturned to strengthen the party and would play an active role in fulfilling the vision of the party and its leadership.

While referring to some local issues, Shaheen Expressed concern over the road network to Neel and said that the Chamalwas- Neel road is in a dilapidated condition that has added to the miseries of the people. The District President urged the R&B Department for taking up restoration and upgradation works on immediate bases.

Shaheen also drew attention of the Administration towards deficiencies in education and health sectors and sought immediate filling up of vacant posts as also stocking of adequate quantity of medicines in the health institutions.
He strongly demanded setting up of a Higher Secondary School in Parhinder, Neel as hundreds of students from Parhinder and its vicinity have to travel long distance on foot to reach the only higher secondary school situated in Battoo which caters population of more than 25 thousands habitation.

Block president Neel, Ghulam Rasool Deng, district Vice presidents Haji Mohd Yousaf Naik, Chodhary Ghulam Hussain, Thakur Bharat Singh, block secretary Zulfiqar Ahmed Naik, Block Vice President Manzoor Sheikh, Abdul Rashid Naik, Haji Mohd Yousaf Naik ,Haji Mohd Yousaf Sohil, besides Mohd Naseem Daing, Sheikh Abdul Rashid Naik, Shamasud Din Daing, Khadim Hussain Daing, Abdul Wahid Naik, Abdul Hamid Foji, Mumtaz Ahmed , Shoket Ahmed Naik, Haji Abdul Rahman Padihar, Firdos Ahmed Bohroo, Tanveer Dar, Mahran Wani and others were also present in the function.
