Jammu, October 26:

In a big development that will have its long-term consequences for the Jammu and Kashmir politics, three top PDP leaders of Jammu region have quit the party, saying that they were not comfortable with the utterances of the party president Mehbooba Mufti that she had made at her first conference after her release in which she had stated that she would not pick up the national tricolour unless erstwhile state’s flag and all other special provisions  were not restored to Jammu and Kashmir.

The leaders, including former Rajya Sabha MP, T S Bajwa, former MLC Ved Mahajan and  Hussain A Wafa,  in a letter to Mehbooba Mufti have said that some of her actions and utterances have “hurt their patriotic feelings.”This indicates the growing regional divide over the issue However, there was no official word from PDP’s op leadership about this development.
