District administration today announced relaxation in the strict lockdown that was imposed in the capital city in view of spread of corona virus
Deputy Missioner Srinagar Shahid Chowdary told media that there might be no need for lockdown on August 16 onwards if all SoPs are followed by people in letter and spirit.



He said district administration Srinagar has held meetings with religious heads and traders and if the administration will open up 50% markets from 16 of this month onwards, SOP’s have to be adhered. If we all follow SOP’s properly, I don’t think any need for extending lockdown may arise,” he said
The lockdown was necessitated by the spike in Corona virus cases. Srinagar is still vulnerable to the rise in cases, he said , and advised that strict adherence to the SoPs can save the city from worsening of the situation.


He said that Srinagar administration interacted with over 3,000 religious heads . He hoped that they will follow all the SOPs when religious places are thrown open on August 16.
