 St. Peter’s High School’s Junior wing celebrated sports Day in the school premises for the first time, with great Zeal & enthusiasm.

Zorawar Singh Jamwal, an eminent Journalist and Chairman of Team Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Fr. Jose Vadake, the Vice President of Jammu Srinagar Dioceses along with Fathers and Sisters of different schools also graced the occasion.

The celebration started with the welcome address by Fr. Thomas Niravathu, the Principal of the school. In his address he stressed on the need of having sports activities in the life of the students.

Students of Junior wing presented a soulful welcome dance. Tiny-tots presented the March Past with the values Peace,Unity,Brotherhood,Sacrifice and Tolerance Zorawar Singh Jamwal took the salute of the March-Past.

Sports Flame was lit by Fr.Thomas  Niravathu, Zorwar Singh Jamwal and carried by the students who brought laurels after that sports meet got declared by him. The dance presented by children added a colour to the show, they depicted the importance of sports.

Importance of Yoga was depicted by toddlers in a beautiful manner besides to emphasize the need of fruits in our life apple race was conducted on the occasion.

The children in beautiful Pink and black attire presented aerobics. One leg race, Frog Race were the main highlights of the show. Bursting of balloons was another interesting race.

Winners of different games were honoured by Zorawar Singh Jamwal who is also an alumni of the St Peter’s High School. He also addressed the gathering and felt extremely glad to be a part of the celebration. While recalling his good old days right from Class 1 till Matriculation in the very same school, he shared with the young students how is used to get love of teachers while scoring good marks also how he used to face music on his naughty activities. He said that whatever he is and wherever he is, all due to one of the best teachings imparted by the faculty of St Peter’s School.  He appreciated the participants and also talked about the role of St.Peter’s in inculcating education to the society of Jammu region.

In his speech, Zorawar Singh Jamwal also talked about the ill effects of drug abuse which is on increase in the society. He said that drugs are consuming the youngsters of the present generation and children should be aware about the bad effects of drugs in their life.we felt proud of him because he is an ex-petrine.

The programme ended with a colourful Bhangra presented by enthusiastic toddlers.
