Authorities have imposed strict restrictions in mountainous Kishtwar town and surrounding areas in view of the communal tension that has gripped the area following a communally sensitive issue that had erupted in Reasi district.
A video of the communally sensitive nature had gone viral of which the police had taken cognizance and arrested seven people .
However, the communal tensions spread to other areas in the region , including Kishtwar, where Majlias-e-Shoura had given a call for general strike to protest against the communal incident.
Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara told J K News Today that “ restrictions have been imposed for the welfare of the people “in view of the reports of communal tension in the area..
He conceded that the reports of the communal incident had made the situation tense. It was to defuse the tension that restrictions have been imposed.
