Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s younger brother Tassaduq Mufti today sworn-in as a minister at Raj Bhavan, along with PDP MLA Javed Mustafa Mir.
The state government had intimated the Raj Bhavan about the swearing-in- of Tassaduq Mufti and Javed Mustafa Mir on Monday evening hours after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Governor N N Vohra.
Vohra has administered the oath of office and secrecy to Tassaduq Mufti.
The induction of Mehbooba’s brother into the ministry comes close on heels of his nomination as a member of the legislative council . Governor nominated him to the Council last week on the recommendations of the state government.
Tassaduq has been nominated against a seat that fell vacant after Dr Karan Singh’s eldest son Vikramditya Singh resigned from the ruling PDP and the Legislative Council in protest against the alleged discrimination by the PDP-led coalition government against Jammu region.
Mehbooba delayed the oath-taking ceremony of her brother owing to the ill health of her mother, who is now recuperating in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
