JK News Today commentary
On Thursday , Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar declared that it was their choice to use while reflecting on Pahalgam attack. The word terror was consciously avoided, and he reasoned out, “ they could have been freedom fighters.,” a term that Pakistan uses for terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir as for it the acts of terror in this part of the Himalayan territory are part of the “ freedom struggle.”
His remarks at a media briefing after the conclusion of the National Security Committee meeting , came in response to the controversy that Pakistan had used the word “ concerned” while condoling the loss of lives in Pahalgam attack.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Wednesday , a day after the terrible attack in Barisaran, Pahalgam commented : “ We are concerned about the loss of tourists’ lives in an attack in the Anantnag district . We extend our condolences to the near and dear ones of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
And, when Ishaq Dar was asked , why Pakistan did not condemn the attack , which had triggered Indo-Pak tensions , he replied,” “ it’s our wish that what kind of words do we choose to reflect on the loss of lives in Pahalgam . They ( attackers) could have been freedom fighters.”
This let the cat out of bag.
Why two Cs – Concerned and Condolences were used , and not the third – Condemnation ? The answer to this is simple – because Pakistan could not condemn its terrorists created by it . The whole narrative of Pakistan having a firm stand against terrorism is false . Its reaction to carnage in Pahalgam makes it more than clear.

The terror attack on tourists in the world famous tourist resort Pahalgam in its one of mesmerizing meadows Barisaran, had evoked worldwide condemnation . The US President Donald Trump , Russian President Vladmir Putin and several other global leaders had condemned the brutal attack unequivocally without mincing words. All these leaders representing the most powerful and developed countries declared solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism.
Even China, an iron clad friend of Pakistan condemned the attack in strong terms. Foreign Office spokesperson Guo Jiakun said about the attack : “ China noted the reports . We strongly condemn the attack . China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism . We mourn the lives lost and express sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured.”
The whole response of Pakistan to the terror attack was to shield the terrorists from being called as terrorists because dubbing the barbaric killers as terrorists would have annoyed the terror outfits acting on its behalf in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Pakistan, this was a perfect response that they were concerned,.
This shows Pakistan’s complete complicity in the terror attack . To hide its glee over the act of terror, Pakistani agencies and its sponsored agents started a vilification campaign against the Indian citizens by peddling fake news about the Kashmiri students and traders being harassed in other states . There were no incidents of this nature at the scale which Pakistan and the anti-national elements attempted to project to axe their grind . But, unfortunately for them, Kashmiris have rejected the fake news and they continued to stand in solidarity with the victims and led huge marches against terrorists and terrorism.
