Srinagar, August 26: Coinciding with Natiomal Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah’s decision to contest Assembly polls , a high level team of the US diplomats called on him to know about his perception about Kashmir situation- past, present and future.
The US diplomats are reported to have discussed the current situation in the Valley with regard to polls and NC manifesto to which Union Home Minister has taken strong exception and listed 10 questions for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for aligning with the NC , the party that can reverse peace in Kashmir by what he called” anti-national agenda “
The delegation included Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs Graham Mayer, First Secretary Gary Applegarth, and Political Counselor Abhiram.
The meeting was also attended by Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Chief Spokesperson and Head of Communications Tanvir Sadiq.
Discussions covered a wide range of issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir and the region in general.
Omar Abdullah emphasized to the diplomats the importance of re-looking at the travel advisories for Jammu and Kashmir with a view to easing the restrictions.
He encouraged people from around the world to visit Kashmir and experience its beauty and culture firsthand. He also invited the diplomats to visit Kashmir with their families as a first step to inspire confidence among tourists from the United States and other parts of the world.
