The US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken discussed the review of America’s Afghan strategy with the Chairman of Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation Dr. Abdullah Abdullah .
State department spokesperson Ned Price said that Secretary Blinken spoken to Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to discuss the United States’ review of its strategy in Afghanistan.


America is involved in a nearly 20 -year-long war in Afghanistan that began within a month after the horrendous terror attack of 9/11 in the US in which more than 3,000 people were killed . America has not been able to end the war in Afghanistan where a complex theatre of war has erupted with Taliban, Islamic state , war lords and drug mafia have stoked terrorism and worked against the return of peace.


Secretary Blinken’s call to the Afghan leader on Saturday came a day after President Joe Biden had told Munich Security Conference: “ My administration strongly supports the diplomatic process that’s underway and to bring an end to this war that is closing out 20 years. We remain committed to ensuring that Afghanistan never again provides a base for terrorist attacks against the United States and our partners and our interests. “


The State department spokesperson said that the “ Secretary thanked Dr. Abdullah for his vital work in support of the Afghanistan peace process, and he expressed America’s resolve to support a just and durable political settlement and permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Afghanistan.,”r
