Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs today, Abdul Rehman Veeri today set the deadline of December 2016 ending for the completion of Chenani-Nashri tunnel.
Veeri said this during a high level meeting convened here today to review the progress of National Highway projects.
The officers informed the Minister that all the civil works have been completed on Chenani-Nashri tunnel and testing of the operation of different equipments is awaited. Meanwhile, lifting and cleaning of leftover material inside and around openings is being done.
Taking exception to the laid back approach towards maintenance of highway by the construction companies working on four-lanning of Jammu-Srinagar highway, Veeri made it clear to the executing agencies that it is their responsibility to maintain the highway in their respective areas of operation until completion of four–lanning work.
He directed the concessionaires to keep their men and machinery ready for clearance of Srinagar-Jammu road in case of blockade due to snowfall, landslides and other eventualities.
The Minister stressed on the officers to complete the projects within stipulated time for easing out the movement of public.
