Budgam, October 27:
Yusmarg Mela is an annual event organized jointly by the Indian Army and the awaam of the Budgam and adjoining areas of Pulwama and Shopian.
The event saw more than 3500 persons of all age groups. Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen B S Raju, AVSM, YSM, and Victor Force Commander Maj Gen Rashim Bali, SM, VSM were present.
The mela had a festive atmosphere where numerous stalls consisting of Local Handicrafts were on the display.
The entertainment programs consisted of Bhangra Troupe and Squay Martial Arts display amongst many other attractions.
Awareness Stalls for the civilians were also organized, namely Agriculture and Honey Farming, Anti-Drug & COVID. Medical and Veterinary camps were also organized simultaneously.
For the youth there were volleyball matches, Tug of War and horse riding.
Variety of Kashmiri cuisines stalls added color to the occassion.
Lt Gen BS Raju felicitated locals consisting of Veer Naris, Social Activists, NEET qualifiers from area and distributed automatic Wheel Chairs to the specially abled persons.
Lt Gen BSD Raju expressed his happiness at cheerful exchanges visible on the occassion. He conveyed his best wishes to the awaam and expressed the Kashmiri march to peace will gather more steam with more and more of such events.
