Department of Urdu, Jammu University has condoled the death of reputed Urdu Researcher and  critic Dr. Khaliq Anjum who expired yesterday at New Delhi after a prolong illness.

In this connection a condolence meeting was today held in the department of Urdu, Jammu University which was presided over by HOD Urdu Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik. Besides faculty members, students and scholars also attended the condolence meeting.

The speakers described him a towering Urdu writer of Urdu world who had authored dozens of books. Dr. Khaliq Anjum remained secretary Anjume-e-tareeqi-Urdu Hind New Delhi for a long period. During his tenure as secretary the Anjum become one of the most vibrant Urdu organization.

It was due to the efforts of Dr. Khaliq Anjume that several books of high caliber were published by the Anjume- e-Tareeqi-e-Urdu Hind. Besides many National and International seminars were organized. Dr. Anjum had travelled different countries of the world in connection with the upliftment of Urdu language and literature. Consider as an expert on Ghalib.

Dr Khaliq Anjum was a noble human being and a excellent administrator. His books written on various aspects of Urdu language and literature are considered as referred books. He was a close associate of Urdu writer like Prof. Jagan Nath Azad, Prof. Shamim Hanfi and others. Dr Khaliq Anjum in past visited department of Urdu , Jammu university several times and enrich the students and scholars by delivering extension lectures as well as presenting papers in National Seminars said the speakers.

Those who spoke on the occasion included Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed and Dr. Chaman lal. Two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of the departed soul.
