Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a poster making contest in connection with the Accessible India Campaign (Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan) of Govt. of India.

It is a nationwide flagship campaign to achieve universal accessibility for differently-abled people. The awareness programme was aimed at sensitizing the students towards the special needs of the differently-abled people.

Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Satnam Kour informed that the University of Jammu is commited to organize such meaningful programmes which are aimed for the larger interest of the society and more mass awareness programmes in this connection will follow.

Students from different teaching departments of the University of Jammu participated in this event and expressed their thoughts creatively through colours. Bharti Heer and Parshottma from The Law School, JU were declared First and Second respectively. Megavika from the Department of Home Science secured the Third position. Sh. Manoj Chopra and Dr. Sanjay Sharma were the judges for the event.

While felicitating the winners, Prof. Satnam Kour congratulated all the participants for taking part in this noble initiative of the Department of Students Welfare, she encouraged them to be the ambassadors for the awareness about the rights of the differently abled people as they deserve equality and respectability rather than sympathy. The event was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer).
